Introduction to Timber framing workshop

Skill level: beginner - intermediate
Class size: 5-10

Tools required:   1” mortising chisel, mallet, hand saw, tape measure
combination square, framing square, utility knife, pencils, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Tools recommended:   1 ½” & 2” mortising chisels, circular saw,  
hand planes, drill, 1”, 7/8” & ¾” auger bits and power cord.

  •    Tools can be purchased through Oregon Timberworks.

Discover the basics of timber framing with hands on building.  Learn how to lay out joinery on timbers
using a variety of methods.  Student will cut and clean mortises, tenons and housings with both hand
and power tools and the assembly and squaring of structures required in timberframing.  Every
student takes home a small timber structure to use and learn from.  Follow up classes available.
